TRNSMT Festival Glasgow Scotland

Introduction

TRNSMT is a Scottish music festival held on Glasgow Green in the city's east end. The festival made its debut in 2017 and has taken over from T in the Park as Scotland's major summer music festival. TRNSMT Festival 2018 was held over the course of two weekends at the end of June and beginning of July. Acts such as Arctic Monkeys, Liam Gallagher, The Script, Stereophonics and The Killers headlined at the newly extended five-day festival. Around 250,000 music fans attended TRNSMT 2018 - a huge increase from the debut 2017 festival which attracted crowds of around 120,000.

Mather+Stuart provide temporary power solution to TRNSMT festival

The Challenge

There were five primary bar and catering areas at the festival housed within marquees. Due to the crowds of people seeking food and drink throughout the five days of the festival, it was critical that continuous power was provided 24 hours a day. The client could not afford to lose power at any point and needed a reliable and uninterrupted power supply throughout the two weekends of the festival.

The Solution

Mather+Stuart Power Solutions had provided the client, Vital Show Power, with a complete temporary power solution for the inaugural 2017 event and due to the high level of service provided, was chosen again for the far larger 2018 event. In total, 10 Diesel Generators were provided by Mather+Stuart Power Solutions, of which four were 150kVA and six were 60kVA Generators.

Each bar and catering area was supplied with two Generators, each cabled through an Automatic Mains Failure (AMF) Panel. This provided back-up power in the event of the first Generator failing. As an additional safeguard, Mather+Stuart Power Solutions also fitted a flashing beacon to the AMF Panel to identify if the second back-up Generator had started. If this started flashing, the client was able to contact Mather+Stuart Power Solutions to react accordingly.

A full solution was provided, including Fuel Tanks to ensure an on-site fuel supply, plus cabling and distribution; on-site Engineers were also present during the event. The Generators provided by Mather+Stuart Power Solutions utilise the latest and cleanest diesel engine technology and have a low noise level output, ensuring Generator noise was kept to a minimum during the festival.
